The Dutch are a really special case. I had the luck to catch them live in action not so long ago and left me with the greatest impressions. The white-dressed quintet possesses a huge arsenal of qualitative elements that are essential in this harsh time and market. First of all, they are talented, imaginative (both musically and lyrically) and display a huge amount of energy.

The concept of their debut album focus on the room 45 of a psychiatric clinic, while they blend perfectly the progressive grunge sound with metal, bringing vividly in mind the Seattle scene of the early 90s. The most powerful point in the album (and the one that levels this effort) is the whole theme that succeeds in passing through the music of Non-Divine. The secret weapon are the predominant metal-inspired guitars with the spectacular riffs and solos (I haven’t heard so many good ones in a long time from an up and coming band). The only negative factor is the opening track that it is by far the weakest (but mot bad) one and it is called “One Man One Soul” (with an excellent clip, though). Highlights include “Sleep, “Return To Zero”, “Breathe”, “Mended Doll” and the closing “Sympathy”.

“Asylum 45” must be taken seriously into consideration for every potential listener and buyer. So far, we are talking about the major surprise of the year. Please, proceed to room 45…
